About

Behind the Blog

Hey, I’m Clem. I’m a traveling winemaker and photographer who travels the world, moving from one hemisphere to another, following the seasons (and summers of course!).

9 harvests

across the world

8 countries

explored along the way

I started Skyvine Studio not that long ago. At first it was just a place to share my travel photos and keep a kind of visual logbook for myself. But pretty quickly I realized that posting photos on social media, or printing them as posters, wasn’t enough on its own.

I’ve always loved planning trips, drawing up maps for my road trips, and digging into all the little details of a destination, the budgets, the hikes, the logistics, usually while dragging a few friends along with me. So I started sharing all of that too, first on Instagram, and you guys genuinely loved this mix of photography and travel guide. So here we are, I’ve turned the website into a proper travel blog. The real kind, the one that pushes you out of your comfort zone, off the beaten path, into what it’s actually like to live abroad.

Speaking of living abroad, I should probably explain the other half of my life, since it’s the reason I’m never in one place for long. My day job, the one that actually pays the bills, is winemaking. I know, random pairing with a travel blog, you’re not wrong. But it’s less strange than it sounds once you know the industry: pretty much every winemaker goes abroad after their studies to do at least one harvest somewhere else. Most of them come back to France afterward, settle down, find a stable position. I never quite managed that part.

Travelling between hemispheres, chasing harvest season after harvest season, has basically become my way of life. Two harvests a year, intense weeks, long hours, not much sleep, incredible people, and goodbyes that never really get easier. And somehow I’m still not tired of it. People close to me keep asking when I’m going to settle down somewhere. Honestly, I have no idea. Exploring, living differently, changing countries again and again, that’s just what makes me happy.

It’s not without its downsides, obviously. Visa applications, re-doing interviews every six months, never having a stable home or your own apartment, being far from family and friends. But none of that scares me as much as the idea of a permanent contract, a 25 year mortgage, and a perfectly tidy little life. Living outside my comfort zone for this long has basically made me fearless about everything else.

Photography came into the picture naturally somewhere along the way. It became my language for telling the story of what I was living through, every photo holding onto an emotion, an atmosphere, a single moment that won’t happen again. Between the harvests, the road trips, and yes, occasionally rescuing animals along the way (my actual greatest passion, somewhere above photography and well above winemaking, sorry grapes), there’s always something worth capturing.

Now that you know the story behind the camera, it’s time to dive into the practical side of things. If you want to bring a piece of these adventures into your own home, you can explore my online poster shop to find a print that speaks to you.
